Automatic Updates of Definition Files

Automatic check for a new version of Web Safety is done hourly using cron.hourly job. Definition files for ad blocking, online privacy and domain categorization database are updated when these become available at our site.

Information about a new version and log of definition files updates are shown in web administrator console.

Note if you need to disable the automatic updates of definition files, it is enough to run the following command in the terminal console (it will tell cron daemon to skip the websafety_update cron job).

chmod -x /etc/cron.hourly/websafety_update

Up-to-date status of application is shown in UI / Dashboard / Tools / System Information tab.
